britt avery
founder + main character
Our guy that left his job with an idea, but no concrete plan, and started b+b in a little over 7 weeks – proving it can be done for anyone else with a similar dream. Growing up with an innate desire to help others and seeing Bloom and Boost as an opportunity to do just that, the business was founded on 3 main principles that Britt believes are essential to any business: integrity, adaptability, and passion. These principles are non-negotiables for Britt, and the roots of the b+b brand; commitment to delivering exceptional service, integrating modern solutions, and a sincere dedication to helping our clients thrive so we can find success through their big wins.
Poke around on his profile, and share a dad joke if you want to grab his attention.

the bloom
Honestly – our story hasn't quite been written yet. But here's what we can share about how b+b got started:

the early 2000s – Britt was raised by a village of non-profit, startup, and small business owners, leaders, and enthusiasts who all #supportlocal.

2010 to the 20teens – he moved from Charleston, South Carolina to small-town Story City, Iowa where he continued to be nurtured by non-profit, startup, and small business leaders + community-driven mentors.

the 20teens – found himself doing dishes, refilling chip + salsas, making dangerously delicious margs, and serving his hometown through Los Altos Mexican Restaurant, which now exists as one of the largest family-owned Mexican restaurant chains in Iowa. Being submerged in a family-operated small business as the only "chico blanco" there, he learned the basics do's and don'ts regarding hospitality, management, accounting, security, and marketing.

spring of 2018 – a sweet tooth + his first-ever entrepreneurial challenge from his high school business teacher led him + 3 buds to start up a little lemonade-stand class project called "Royalty Lemons" – where in a little over an hour of serving up frozen and "on the rocks" lemonades, 85% of the class revenue was generated and ~$500 was raised for Special Olympics Iowa.

2018 to 2022 – spending the front half of his college career changing majors to anything but marketing + entrepreneurial ventures, Britt carved out a new path to earn his degree, a FT job with KCL Engineering, and began serving over a dozen clients across the U.S. throughout his time at Wartburg College and during the pandemic.

summer of '22 to spring of '24 – Britt transitioned into the DSM community as an A/E/C industry rookie, quickly picking up the ins and outs of engineering and design marketing. Over the short time spent in the industry, he became hyper focused on the relationships + value themes exemplified by company founders, CEOs, seasoned engineers, and designers; all of which provided exceptional service to their clients around the DSM metro and across the globe.

40 weekdays + 40 weeknights – a series of coffee chats and extended FaceTime/Zoom calls with the village that helped raise him led to the bold choice of launching "a company where I can help people help other people," which was written on the inside cover of his freshman orientation book as a lifetime goal of his.
